1024 × 1024 Image Converter

Resize any picture to exactly 1024 by 1024 pixels. AI image generation and the iOS App Store icon. Free, and nothing is uploaded.

Updated May 2026 · Free · Works entirely in your browser

1024 × 1024 is two things at once: the native square for a lot of AI image tools, and the exact size Apple requires for an App Store icon. For the App Store version it must be a flat PNG with no alpha channel and no rounded corners — Apple applies the mask itself, and an icon that arrives pre-rounded gets rejected.

Where 1024 × 1024 is actually required

  • Default output size for many image-generation models
  • The iOS App Store icon, which must be exactly 1024 × 1024
  • High-resolution app and PWA icon masters
  • Square social posts where you want headroom above 1080

Which format to save it as

PNG without transparency for App Store icons. PNG or JPG for anything else, depending on whether you need alpha.

The thing that usually goes wrong

Submitting an App Store icon with an alpha channel or with the corners already rounded is one of the most common causes of a rejected build.

Crop first, then resize

The order matters more than people expect. Cropping decides what is in the frame and costs nothing in quality — it removes whole pixels rather than degrading the ones you keep. Resizing then scales what is left to the target. Do it the other way round and you resize detail you were about to throw away, which wastes quality on pixels that do not survive.

This is especially true for a square target like many of the sizes here. A landscape photo squeezed into a square loses the sides whatever you do — the only question is whether you choose what goes, or a platform does. Use the image cropper first if the framing matters.

Enlarging does not add detail

Scaling down is safe: the extra pixels genuinely are not needed. Scaling up is interpolation — the new pixels are averaged from their neighbours, which produces a smooth guess rather than recovered detail. It looks acceptable up to about 150% and soft beyond that. When you need a bigger version, go back to the original camera file, the RAW export or the vector source, all of which rasterise cleanly at any size.

Other sizes

Need a size that is not listed? The image resizer takes any width and height, and the aspect ratio calculator works out the second dimension when you only know the first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about image conversion.

Choose your picture above, pick whether to fill and crop or fit and pad, and download. The output is exactly 1024 by 1024 pixels every time. The whole thing runs in your browser — the file is never uploaded to a server, so there is no size limit and no account.

Fill and crop scales the picture until it covers the whole target and trims the overflow, so nothing is distorted but some of the edges are lost. Fit and pad scales it until the whole picture fits inside and fills the leftover space with a colour you choose, so nothing is lost but the subject is smaller. Stretch forces the exact shape and distorts anything that was not already that ratio.

Making an image smaller is safe — it discards pixels you no longer need. Making it larger is not: the extra pixels are interpolated from their neighbours, so the result is softer rather than more detailed. If your original is smaller than 1024 × 1024, go back to the largest version you have rather than upscaling a small copy.

No. The resize is drawn onto a canvas inside your own browser using the Canvas API. The file never leaves your device, there is no queue and there is no account.
