Which converter do you need?

The unit converters at the top handle every unit inside one measurement family. Pick the family first (length, weight, volume, pressure and so on), then choose any two units in it, so you are never limited to a single pair. The converter tools cover conversions that are not a simple multiplication: temperature scales with different zero points, time zones, shoe sizes that follow regional size charts, and number bases. The conversion charts are the everyday pairs people look up most, each with a ready-made table you can print or keep open while you work.

Three mix-ups worth checking first

  • Weight or volume? Cups, millilitres and fluid ounces measure volume; grams, ounces and pounds measure weight. Moving between the two needs the ingredient's density, which is what the density converter is for.
  • US or imperial? Gallons, pints and fluid ounces have different sizes in the US and UK systems. The volume converter lists both, so check which one your recipe, fuel figure or product label uses.
  • Rounding. Results show several decimal places so you can round to suit the job: whole numbers for a shopping list, more precision for engineering or lab work.

Every converter runs in your browser and needs no sign-up. For background on how the systems fit together, read metric vs imperial explained or browse the blog.
